What makes Hoom different from an air quality monitor?+

Air quality monitors like Airthings or Awair measure particles and gases — useful, but they can't tell you what's actually in your air. Hoom One goes further with lab-grade qPCR genetic testing that identifies specific mold species, allergens, pathogens, and pest indicators at the DNA level. It's the difference between knowing your air quality is poor and knowing exactly why.

What can Hoom detect that other devices can't?+

Through genetic testing, Hoom can identify specific mold species (like Aspergillus or Stachybotrys), airborne allergens (dust mites, pet dander, pollen), bacterial and viral pathogens, and pest DNA — none of which are detectable by any consumer sensor on the market.

How does the sampling and testing work?+

Hoom One has a built-in cartridge that captures what's in your air over days or weeks. When ready, remove the slim sample and mail it in the included pre-paid envelope. Our lab runs microscopy and qPCR genetic analysis, and results appear in your app within 48 hours.

How often should I test?+

Two lab tests per year are included with your subscription. Most people test seasonally, after water damage, during allergy season, or whenever someone in the household is feeling unwell.
